L298 Dual Bridge Driver Board For Small Robotic Projects

Product Features:

  • The module employs L298N as the primary drive chip, noted for its robust driving capacity, minimal heat generation, and excellent resistance to interference.

  • It's designed with an inbuilt 78M05 for drive power supply, which can be used when the driving voltage is less than or equal to 12V. However, to avoid damaging the voltage regulator chip, an external 5V power source is recommended for logic when the driving voltage exceeds 12V.

  • The module includes a high-capacity filter capacitor and a continuation protection diode, enhancing its reliability.

Usage Notes:

  1. If the driving voltage is between 7V and 12V, you can use the onboard 5V power supply for logic. In this case, the +5V interface doesn't input voltage but can provide an output of 5V for external use.

  2. When the driving voltage is above 12V, but less than or equal to 24V, the module can still be used. The L298N chip is technically capable of supporting up to 35V according to the manual, but it's recommended to limit it to 24V for safety. If you're driving a motor rated at 18V, for example, you need to disconnect the onboard 5V output by removing the jumper cap first. Then, you can input 5V from an external source into the 5V output port, which will function as a control signal. The motor drive module will only output current when the signal input is valid and the module's power supply is normal. Without this signal, the motor will not receive any current even if the power supply is functional. This is considered a high-voltage application and should be handled with caution.
