Brushes & Spares
Are you searching for replacement brushes for your electric motors? Look no further!
Our website offers a variety of brushes for motors THAT WE SELL.
These brushes may also fit other motors, but it's important to be careful when ordering replacement brushes, as the copper and carbon content can vary depending on the current draw of your motor. Our brushes are made with top-quality materials, ensuring they can handle high current loads. You can easily identify the quality of the brush by its color, with a coppery color indicating a higher current capacity.
If you need to replace a brush, and don't see the model of your motor listed anywhere don't fret!
While nothing compares to the original brushes, and you should always contact the original manufacturer before coming to us, with a little bit of tampering you can often make a brush work for you!
To find the non-original brush to suit you just follow these simple steps:
- Firstly you'll need to measure the original brush: don't worry about the length, just the width and height. The length of a brush will get lower as the brush wears, and if the replacement is too long it can be filed down.
- Secondly you'll need to determine how your brush is oriented: This is simple, brushes are normally loaded in one of 2 ways. It will either have the copper tail protruding out of the flat face of the brush at the very end (see unite MY8216 brush on this page as an example) and utilize a standard spring to hold the brush under tension.
Alternatively it may have the copper tail protruding out of the END of the longer face (see unite MY1018 brush on this page as an example) and utilize a coil spring to hold the brush under tension.
- Thirdly you'll need to find a brush that is oriented in the same way as the brush which you are replacing, and which has either the same, or slightly greater height and width dimensions.
Its always better to opt for a replacement that measures slightly larger than the unit you have as excess length in any dimension can be filed down.Â
Never try to use a brush that is too small. Even 1mm smaller in either the height of the width can cause the brush to sit at a slight angle to the computator and can cause the brush to wear extremely fast, in worst case scenarios this can clog your armiture with pieces of brush and cause the motor to stall and burn out.
